The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a disappointing 123-116 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night at the Arena. Despite a strong effort from the team, the Lakers were unable to overcome the Warriors’ lead.
Five-time All-Star Luka Doncic took accountability for the Lakers’ defeat, citing his poor shooting performance as “unacceptable.” Doncic struggled from the three-point line, shooting 0-for-6, and making him 3 of 22 from that range in his last three contests combined.
“I think they were playing good defense,” Doncic said. “I think we didn’t play with enough trust—especially me. So, that performance from me is unacceptable. When I play like that, it makes [it harder] for the team to win, so just gotta figure it out.”
Lakers coach JJ Redick echoed Doncic’s sentiments, saying, “It wasn’t his night.” The Lakers will need a better version of Doncic if they want to secure home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
With four of their final six games coming against playoff-caliber opponents, including the Oklahoma City Thunder, Dallas Mavericks, and Houston Rockets, the Lakers face a challenging road ahead.
The loss drops the Lakers to 46-30 on the season, and they currently hold the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference. Despite the setback, the Lakers remain focused on making a deep playoff run.
As for Doncic, he will look to bounce back from his disappointing performance and lead the Lakers to victory in their next game.
