The path is set for the Kentucky Wildcats in the NCAA Tournament. The Cats have been named the No. 3 seed in the Midwest Region and will face off against the Troy Trojans in Milwaukee.
Kentucky’s resume speaks for itself, with two wins over Tennessee and a win over Duke. The SEC being a historically difficult conference this season also helped the Cats’ case.
The official Selection Committee seed ranking has Kentucky at No. 11, with a 22-11 record. Mark Pope’s first season in Lexington has been a success, and the Cats are looking to make a deep run in the tournament.
Here is the official 1-68 seed list:
1. Auburn (28-5)
2. Duke (31-3)
3. Houston (30-4)
4. Florida (30-4)
5. Tennessee (27-7)
6. Alabama (25-8)
7. Michigan St. (27-6)
8. St. John’s (NY) (30-4)
9. Texas Tech (25-8)
10. Iowa St. (24-9)
11. Kentucky (22-11)
…and so on.
The Wildcats will tip off their tournament run on Friday against Troy. Will they live up to their No. 3 seed and make a deep run? Only time will tell.
