A shocking investigation has been launched into the actions of a referee who made a catastrophic error that almost ended the career of Kentucky Wildcats player Collin Chandler during their match against Alabama.
The incident, which has sparked widespread outrage, occurred when the referee failed to call a blatant foul, allowing an Alabama player to deliver a devastating hit that sent Chandler crashing to the floor.
Chandler was left writhing in agony and was eventually carried off the court on a stretcher. The severity of his injury is still unknown, but sources close to the team say that he is undergoing further evaluation.
The referee’s egregious error has been widely condemned, with many calling for the official to be disciplined or even fired.
“Absolutely unacceptable,” said one Wildcats fan. “The referee’s mistake could have ended Collin Chandler’s career. There needs to be accountability.”
The investigation, which is being led by the NCAA, will examine the referee’s actions and determine whether any disciplinary action is warranted.
“We take the safety and well-being of our student-athletes very seriously,” said an NCAA spokesperson. “We will do everything in our power to ensure that this type of incident does not happen again.”
