Kentucky’s thrilling win over Oklahoma was so good that even Brandon Garrison’s young son had to get in on the postgame press conference. Following the Wildcats’ 83-82 victory over the Sooners on Wednesday night in Norman, Garrison was joined on the podium by head coach Mark Pope and hero of the game, Otega Oweh, who scored UK’s final 18 points en route to a career-high 28 on the evening.
Garrison came up huge in several key moments, finishing with 12 points, four rebounds, three blocks, and three steals. Afterward, he brought out his adorable son to help him talk with the media.
The Wildcats’ win was not without controversy, however. Following the final buzzer, tensions ran high as Oklahoma fans expressed their disappointment. In one disturbing incident, a fan threw a beer can at the Kentucky players as they left the court.
Despite the chaotic ending, Kentucky head coach Mark Pope was thrilled with his team’s performance. In a post-game press conference, Pope praised Oweh’s clutch shooting and Garrison’s all-around effort.
Pope was joined on the podium by Garrison, who brought his young son along to share in the excitement. The adorable moment added a lighthearted touch to an otherwise intense evening.
Oklahoma coach Porter Moser, meanwhile, was left to ponder what might have been. Despite his team’s valiant effort, Moser acknowledged that Kentucky’s talent and depth ultimately proved too much to overcome.
“We battled our tails off against a high-level team in a high-level atmosphere,” Moser said. “We have to channel that going into our next game.”
With the win, Kentucky improves its chances of securing a spot in the NCAA Tournament. As for Oklahoma, the loss is a setback, but Moser remains optimistic about his team’s prospects.
“They’ve got a Final Four team when they’re healthy,” Moser said of Kentucky. “We’ve got to keep pushing and see where it takes us.”
