The Michigan Wolverines have made the top-six list for four-star running back Deshonne Redeaux, a recruit from California who has been compared to Detroit Lions superstar Jahmyr Gibbs.
Redeaux, who plays high school football at Oaks Christian, the same school that produced former Michigan and current Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet, was offered by Michigan last April. He has since made the Wolverines’ top-six list, alongside other top programs such as USC, UCLA, and Oregon.
According to 247Sports’ Greg Biggins, Redeaux has been scouted as a versatile playmaker who can line up all over the place and make defenders look silly. He has the game-breaking speed to go along with the between-the-tackles toughness, and has been compared to Gibbs due to his similar playing style.
Michigan running backs coach Tony Alford has been instrumental in recruiting Redeaux, and the Wolverines’ chances of landing the top recruit may depend on their ability to get him on campus for a visit.
Redeaux has stated that his relationship with the coaches and how he fits in the program will be big factors in his decision. He wants to play for a winner, but also wants to be developed and prepared for the next level.
With Alford’s reputation as a top recruiter and Michigan’s history of producing top running backs, the Wolverines may have a legitimate chance at landing Redeaux. However, they will face stiff competition from other top programs, and it remains to be seen whether they can secure a commitment from the talented running back.
