The New York Jets are reportedly interested in Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The Jets are looking for a new starting quarterback after moving on from Aaron Rodgers, and Fields’ dual-threat abilities have caught their attention.
Fields, 25, was traded to the Steelers in March 2024 and started in six games, posting a 4-2 record. He completed 65.8% of his passes for 1,106 yards, 5 touchdowns, and an interception, while also rushing for 289 yards and 5 touchdowns.
The Jets’ interest in Fields is likely due to his youth and potential, as well as his ability to make plays with his legs. Fields has looked at the Jets’ roster and sees some intrigue, particularly with young players like Garrett Wilson and a good defense.
Finding a quarterback is key to new head coach Aaron Glenn turning the franchise around, as the Jets haven’t made the playoffs in 14 years.
