Kentucky Wildcats head coach Mark Pope provided updates on the injuries to guards Lamont Butler and Jaxson Robinson during his call-in radio show on Monday.
Butler, who re-aggravated his shoulder injury in the win over Tennessee, is making progress but hasn’t returned to full-contact practice. His return will depend on his pain tolerance, and the team will try to get him some live practice reps over the next week.
As for Robinson, he hasn’t played since the win over South Carolina on February 2 due to a wrist injury. While he hasn’t done anything with his right hand, he has been shooting with his left hand to stay loose. Pope jokingly suggested that Robinson might play with his right hand tied up against Vanderbilt on Wednesday.
ESPN’s Dick Vitale shared an update on the injuries after speaking with Pope, stating that he doesn’t believe either Butler or Robinson will be back in time for the rematch against Alabama this weekend.
Kentucky will face Vanderbilt on Wednesday, and while it’s unlikely that Butler or Robinson will be ready, the team will need to find a way to survive without them.
