Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields has expressed interest in returning to the team, but only if he’s given a realistic chance to start. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Fields wants a clear path to be the team’s starting quarterback for the entire season.
Fields had a promising stint with the Steelers in 2024, throwing 10 touchdowns and just one interception in six starts. However, he was benched in favor of Russell Wilson, who also had success with the team.
With both Fields and Wilson set to become free agents, the Steelers must decide whether to bring back one or both of them. Fields’ youth, talent, and success in the team’s scheme under Arthur Smith make him an attractive option.
Fields’ desire for a clear starting role is understandable, given his performance last season. If the Steelers can offer him that opportunity, it’s possible that Fields could return to the team and become their long-term starting quarterback.
