The Pittsburgh Steelers do not look like the only team that will be in pursuit of Deebo Samuel. In fact, two other teams within their own division could be competitors for Samuel’s services.
Adam Schefter of ESPN not only believes the Steelers are a possible landing spot, but threw out the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals as possible teams that could be involved in the Samuel sweepstakes.
“I think it’s hard to pinpoint right now where Deebo would go,” Schefter said on Monday’s episode of the Pat McAfee Show. “I could see him in Pittsburgh, I could see him in Baltimore I could see him in a lot of those places. Any of those AFC North teams make sense.”
The Ravens could use another wide receiver, even though they have Rashod Bateman and Zay Flowers. Another consistent yards after the catch threat like Samuel, who is tough and gritty, would fit well with the Ravens.
As for the Bengals, if they lose Tee Higgins, they need as much help as they can get in that room. Andrei Iosivas has stepped up as a nice piece but there is nothing certain beyond that.
Now, Samuel, 29, is seeing a trade out of San Francisco. With Samuel being owed $17.5 million in the final year of his contract, this looks like a deal that San Francisco will have to eat some money in to facilitate. If they do not, it is hard for Samuel to see the market as being that lush. With none of that money guaranteed, it makes it far easier to facilitate a trade.
In 15 games this past season, Samuel had 51 receptions for 670 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He added 42 rushes for 136 yards and a touchdown.
