Detroit Lions fan are known as die-hard, unflinchingly devoted fans. But perhaps no fan is more committed to the team than Upper Peninsula resident Megan Stefanski, who was honored on Thursday as the NFL Fan of the Year.
Stefanski, also recognized as the Detroit Lions Fan of the Year in 2024, “is a lifelong fan of the Detroit Lions, with her passion for the team inspired by her father, Donnie ‘Yooperman’ Stefanski,” according to NFL.com.
Since her father’s death in 2019, Megan has carried on the traditions she held closely with her father, the Free Press reported in 2023.
She drives five hours south to all the home games, tailgates with her dad’s old friends, and sits in her dad’s old seat.
NFL.com reports Megan hasn’t missed a home or away game in more than a decade.
“She also brought together fans from around Michigan to raise over 30,000 for charity this past year. Megan is proud to use her fandom to positively impact the lives of those in her community,” the NFL announced Thursday night.
