Washington Commanders offensive lineman Sam Cosmi is facing a long and challenging road to recovery after suffering a season-ending ACL tear against the Detroit Lions. Despite the setback, Cosmi is determined to return to the field stronger than ever.
“I’m gonna do everything in my power to get my body in peak physical shape and be able to be ready for next year,” Cosmi said during the team’s locker room cleanout day.
Cosmi’s injury occurred in the second quarter of the divisional round matchup against the Lions, forcing him to miss the NFC Championship game against the Philadelphia Eagles. While there is no timetable for his return, Cosmi is eager to begin his rehabilitation and is planning to be around the team’s facility throughout the offseason.
“I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t have to go through trials and tribulations,” Cosmi said. “Everybody does, and I’ve been able to come out of those on top. So, this is no different.”
Cosmi’s determination and work ethic have impressed his coaches and teammates, who are confident that he will make a successful recovery.
“He’s been a significant part of what we’re doing, especially in the interior,” said Commanders head coach Dan Quinn. “So yeah, that’s a big deal, the ballplayer and the man.”
With Cosmi’s leadership and talent, the Commanders are eager to see him return to the field and help the team achieve success in the future.
