The Detroit Lions are expected to be major players in the 2025 NFL offseason, and a new report suggests they may be in the mix for a former All-Pro wide receiver. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, a league executive believes the Lions could be a potential suitor for Los Angeles Rams receiver Cooper Kupp.
The connection between Kupp and Lions quarterback Jared Goff is seen as a major factor in the potential deal. The two players came into the league together and made Pro Bowls together, and the executive believes this instant connection could be a major draw for the Lions.
However, not everyone is convinced that Kupp would be a good fit for the Lions. The team already has two 1000-yard receivers, including one of the best receivers in the NFL, as well as a talented tight end in Sam LaPorta. With a strong running game and one of the NFL’s best offensive lines, it’s unclear where Kupp would fit in the Lions’ offense.
If the Lions were to make a move for Kupp, they would be getting a player who was once seen as one of the best receivers in the league. Kupp made 67 catches for 710 yards last season, and would likely command a significant contract. However, with the Lions having cap space and being a contender after finishing 15-2 in 2024, they may be willing to make a big move to bring in a top talent like Kupp.
