The Cleveland Browns are reeling after star defensive end Myles Garrett demanded a trade. While some fans are calling for GM Andrew Berry’s head, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith points to a different culprit: Deshaun Watson.
Smith argues that Watson’s underwhelming performance and massive contract ($93 million owed) have hindered the team’s ability to compete. Garrett, who has been vocal about his desire to win a Super Bowl, has apparently lost patience with the team’s quarterback situation.
“Myles Garrett knows Deshaun Watson is washed [and] there’s no path forward for the Browns,” ESPN’s Damien Woody tweeted in agreement.
Garrett’s statement, posted on Twitter/X, emphasized his desire to compete for a Super Bowl, rather than simply being a Hall of Famer. The Browns have reiterated their stance that they will not trade Garrett, but it remains to be seen how this situation will unfold.
