ESPN analyst Mina Kimes has weighed in on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ disappointing 2024 season, and she believes that the team’s collapse can’t be pinned on just one position – the quarterback.
While many have pointed to the struggles of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields as a major factor in the Steelers’ downfall, Kimes thinks that there were other issues at play.
“It wasn’t just the quarterback play that led to the Steelers’ collapse,” Kimes said. “There were problems across the board, from the coaching staff to the defense to the special teams unit. It was a team-wide effort, and to just blame the quarterback is oversimplifying the issue.”
Kimes’ comments echo those of other analysts, who have pointed to the Steelers’ lack of depth and talent on both sides of the ball as major contributors to their struggles.
The Steelers are expected to make significant changes to their roster and coaching staff this offseason, and Kimes believes that a more comprehensive approach is needed to get the team back on track.
“You can’t just fix one position and expect everything to magically get better,” Kimes said. “The Steelers need to take a hard look at their entire organization and make some tough decisions if they want to compete with the top teams in the league.”
