The Pittsburgh Steelers have been struggling to find consistency this season, and insiders claim that one critical mistake is costing the team wins.
According to sources close to the team, the Steelers’ inability to establish a strong running game has been the Achilles’ heel of their offense.
“The Steelers are trying to be too cute with their play-calling,” said one insider. “They’re not committing to the run, and it’s killing their chances of sustaining drives and controlling the clock.”
The numbers bear out this assessment. The Steelers rank near the bottom of the league in rushing yards per game, and their lack of a consistent ground game has forced quarterback Russell Wilson to try to do too much through the air.
“Russell’s a great quarterback, but he can’t carry the team on his back every week,” said another insider. “The Steelers need to find a way to get their running game going, or they’re going to be in trouble.”
With the Steelers’ playoff hopes hanging in the balance, it remains to be seen whether they can correct this deadly sin and get their season back on track.
