The Detroit Lions made several significant moves during the 2024 free agency period, but one signing stood out as a major disappointment. According to Pro Football Focus, Marcus Davenport was the Lions’ worst signing of the 2024 offseason.
Davenport’s time with the Lions was marred by injuries, limiting him to just a few games. However, even before the injuries, it was questionable whether Davenport was the right fit for the Lions. With a career-high of just nine sacks and a history of injuries, Davenport never quite lived up to expectations.
The Lions ultimately found a better option mid-season, trading for Za’Darius Smith. As the team looks to the 2025 offseason, they’ll aim to find a long-term solution to complement Aidan Hutchinson in the pass rush – one that will hopefully work out better than the Davenport signing.
