Aaron Glenn, the new head coach of the New York Jets, is reportedly eyeing some of his former players from the Detroit Lions to join him in the Big Apple. According to NFL writer Tony Pauline, Glenn is expected to target several key players from the Lions’ roster, including linebacker Derrick Barnes, who had a standout season in 2023 before suffering a significant knee injury in 2024.
Another player who could potentially follow Glenn to the Jets is cornerback Carlton Davis, who is set to become a free agent after completing a one-year, $14.5 million deal with the Lions. Davis was impressive in 2024, allowing a completion rate of 55.3% and a passer rating of 77.0 when targeted, making him a great fit for the Jets’ aggressive defensive schemes.
It’s worth noting that the Lions may face challenges in retaining their key players, especially with Glenn’s familiarity with the team’s roster. However, the Lions still have a solid foundation of talent, and it remains to be seen how many players will ultimately follow Glenn to the Jets.
