The Pittsburgh Steelers’ biggest offseason gamble might just pay off in a big way. According to sources close to the team, the Steelers’ decision to sign free agent wide receiver, Kenny Golladay, to a one-year deal is looking like a genius move.
Golladay, who was considered one of the top free agent wide receivers on the market, was signed by the Steelers in March to a one-year, $6 million deal. At the time, many questioned the move, citing Golladay’s injury history and inconsistent play in recent seasons.
However, according to sources, Golladay has been impressive in offseason workouts and is quickly becoming a favorite target of quarterback Kenny Pickett.
“Kenny Golladay has been a pleasant surprise,” said a Steelers source. “He’s been working hard and has quickly developed chemistry with Kenny Pickett. We’re excited to see what he can do on the field.”
Golladay’s addition to the Steelers’ receiving corps is expected to provide a much-needed boost to the team’s passing game. With Golladay, Diontae Johnson, and George Pickens, the Steelers now have a formidable trio of wide receivers.
The Steelers’ gamble on Golladay may just pay off in a big way. If he can stay healthy and produce on the field, the Steelers’ offense could be one of the most explosive in the league.
