As the Pittsburgh Steelers prepare to face the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, head coach Mike Tomlin emphasized the need for his team to put their late-season struggles behind them.
“We can’t dwell on the past,” Tomlin said during a press conference on Wednesday. “We have to focus on the present and look towards the future. We can’t let our late-season struggles define us.”
The Steelers stumbled down the stretch, losing three of their last four games to finish the regular season with a 10-7 record. Despite the late-season slump, Tomlin remains confident in his team’s ability to make a deep run in the playoffs.
“We’ve been in this situation before,” Tomlin said. “We know what it takes to succeed in the playoffs. We just need to focus on the task at hand and take it one game at a time.”
Tomlin’s message was echoed by his players, who acknowledged that they need to put their late-season struggles behind them if they want to make a successful playoff run.
“We can’t change what happened in the past,” said quarterback Kenny Pickett. “All we can do is focus on the present and look towards the future. We’re excited for the opportunity to play in the playoffs and make a run.”
The Steelers will face the Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium on Saturday night, with kickoff scheduled for 8 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast nationally on Prime Video.
“We’re looking forward to the challenge,” Tomlin said. “We’re going to go out there and give it our all. We’re going to leave everything on the field.”
