British tennis sensation Emma Raducanu celebrated Christmas with a lakeside escape in New Zealand. The 22-year-old is in the South Pacific nation for the 2025 ASB Classic tournament.
Raducanu is on the WTA 250 event’s entry list along with Naomi Osaka, Sloane Stephens, Sofia Kenin, and others. The tournament will begin on December 30, 2024.
The 2021 US Open champion looks in positive spirits ahead of the challenge as she took recently took a detour in the lap of nature in New Zealand. She took to Instagram and shared glimpses of her outing during which the breeze brushed her outfits, providing a much-needed break before the start of a rather hectic schedule.
“Merry Christmas. Hope you all had a nice day,” she captioned her post.
The Brit competed for the Auckland title this year as well but couldn’t go past the second round. She started the proceedings positively, overcoming Romania’s Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 in the Round of 32.
Raducanu met the No. 2 seed Elina Svitolina in the Round of 16 and clinched the opening set. Svitolina, however, fought back to win the match 6-7(5), 7-6(3), 6-1. Thus, the Brit will eye a better outcome in the lead up tournament to the 2025 Australian Open.
Emma Raducanu started the season outside the top 300 in the WTA singles rankings but worked her way up to World No. 57 and will surely be looking to climb further up in 2025. However, she will have to sort out her injury woes, to begin with.
