After winning the US Open, Jannik Sinner surprised a few young fans in South Tyrol, where he was born.
The top player in the world made a homecoming trip back to Italy three days after winning his second Grand Slam trophy. Sinner made one of his first public appearances at a children’s football practice in Bruneck, where he showed up to give the kids a motivational speech.
The world No. 1 was smiling and laughing as he interacted with the local kids, who were having a great time training their soccer skills. The kids are from the South Tyrol province, which is hidden away in the Italian Alps. Sinner, who grew up loving soccer, played the game for fun before deciding to pursue a career in tennis.
In addition to his outstanding on-court achievements, Sinner’s 2024 US Open title win was an amazing feat because of his fortitude in the face of the doping scandal that dogged him during his Flushing Meadows campaign.
