“No one can ever take it away from you,” Andy Roddick advises World No.1 Jannik Sinner to ‘sit back and appreciate’ his accomplishments
Jannik Sinner became the first player from Italy to climb to the No.1 position in the rankings.
Jannik Sinner officially became the new World No.1 on the ATP Tour and the greats of the game started congratulating Jim. Sinner’s accomplishments this year include the Australian Open triumph, and victories in the ATP Rotterdam and Miami Open.
His wins in these tournaments and Novak Djokovic‘s winless run this season were enough to take the Italian to the top of the rankings. Former World No.1 Andy Roddick advised the 22-year-old to laud himself for what he has achieved because becoming a World No.1 is not an easy task.
Jannik Sinner, congratulations. I just wanted to congratulate you on this monumental accomplishment. I know that you have to work for a lifetime and I also know that never ends. I hope you find some time to sit back and appreciate what you have accomplished, becoming world number 1. I promise you that no one can ever take it away from you.

Djokovic’s withdrawal from the recently-concluded Roland Garros before his quarterfinal clash with Casper Ruud due to his knee injury had assured Sinner the top spot. The Serb, who won his third title in Paris last year, needed to reach the final to save his position.
Sinner, on the other hand, arrived in Paris after nursing a hip injury he suffered during the Madrid Open which made him miss the Italian Open. The 22-year-old reached the semifinals of the Roland Garros where Carlos Alcaraz, who won the Roland Garros title later, defeated him in five sets.
