Kentucky is continuing to explore options in the transfer portal as Mark Pope looks to strengthen the roster for the upcoming season, and one familiar name has re-emerged on the Wildcats’ radar.
According to reports, Kentucky has recently made contact with 7-foot-1 center Eric Reibe, a player the program originally recruited in the 2025 class before he ultimately committed to UConn. The renewed interest suggests the Wildcats are seriously considering him as a potential frontcourt addition.
Reibe, a 260-pound big man from Germany, spent his freshman season at Connecticut playing limited but meaningful minutes. He averaged 5.9 points and 3.3 rebounds in just under 14 minutes per game, showing flashes of his offensive versatility as a modern stretch big. He also shot 31% from three-point range, giving him the ability to stretch the floor and fit into pace-and-space offensive systems.
On3’s Jamie Shaw reports that Pope and Kentucky are once again actively involved in his recruitment, signaling a possible reunion after initially pursuing him out of high school. His skill set is viewed as a strong match for Pope’s offensive style, and he could potentially form a productive frontcourt pairing with Malachi Moreno if the freshman remains in Lexington.
Still, Kentucky faces strong competition for his services. Indiana and BYU are both reportedly in the mix, with additional programs expected to join the pursuit as the transfer portal market continues to develop.
As things stand, Reibe is quickly becoming one of the more intriguing big-man options available, and his next decision will be closely watched across the college basketball landscape.
