Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff continue to make waves in the 2026 recruiting cycle, landing their third early signing period commit in elite 5-star forward Cameron Williams. The top-five overall prospect chose the Blue Devils over offers from Arizona and Texas.
Williams, listed as the No. 4 overall player, the top-ranked power forward, and the best player from Arizona in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, has been closely linked to Duke in recent weeks. The 6’11”, 200-pound forward attended Duke’s Countdown to Craziness event alongside fellow 2026 5-star target Jordan Smith Jr., and shortly after his official visit to Duke, he canceled his scheduled visit to USC. Instead, he participated in the USA Basketball Minicamp in Colorado Springs.
“It was good,” Williams said about his experience with Duke at USA Basketball. “I like their playing style. They went into depth on a lot of things, and I could see myself going there. They play five out, and I feel like they have a versatile offense that fits me.”
With Williams’ commitment, Duke now boasts three early signing period commits, joining 5-star forward Bryson Howard and Canadian seven-footer Maxime Meyer. While the Blue Devils continue pursuing several other top prospects, Williams is their highest-rated recruit so far for the 2026 class.
“I felt like the coaching staff truly believed in me,” Williams told Travis Branham on CBS Sports’ YouTube channel.
Scheyer and Duke remain in contention for additional top-tier talent. 5-star wing Austin Goosby, who had originally planned to announce alongside Williams, is set to reveal his decision on Monday, November 17, choosing between Duke, BYU, Baylor, and Texas. Meanwhile, Jordan Smith Jr. is heavily linked to the Blue Devils, with predictions pointing toward him joining the program.
