Big Blue Nation, get ready—this weekend could completely change the trajectory of Kentucky basketball.
Five-star shooting guard Caleb Holt, one of the most coveted prospects in the 2026 class, is officially coming to Lexington for his official visit—and the timing couldn’t be more perfect.
Originally, Holt was set to visit Kentucky from Sept. 5–7, but reports surfaced that his trip would be delayed to the following week. Now, in a stunning reversal, Holt’s father confirmed to KSR+ that the visit is back on for this weekend.
Why is this such a big deal? Holt isn’t just another elite recruit—he’s the No. 4 overall prospect in the 2026 cycle, a dynamic 6-foot-5 playmaker who can completely transform a program. And Kentucky has a real chance to make a statement here.
Holt just wrapped up an official visit with John Calipari at Arkansas, and now it’s Mark Pope’s turn to impress. The Wildcats couldn’t have scripted it better: Holt will be in town for Kentucky vs. Ole Miss at Kroger Field, giving him a front-row seat to one of the most electric football atmospheres in the country.
And he’s not coming alone. Four-star small forward Maximo Adams will also be on campus for his OV, making this one of the most crucial recruiting weekends of the year for Pope and his staff as they chase their first 2026 commitment.
What makes this even more intriguing? Holt already has a strong connection with Pope. Back in July, Holt told KSR:
> “Coach Pope, he was my on-court coach at USA (training camp). I got to play for him, and it was actually fun—he let me rock out. He was like, ‘That’s how it’s gonna be at Kentucky.’ Kentucky is definitely in the mix, high up. I mess with Mark Pope and everything.”
That familiarity could be a game-changer—but the competition is fierce. Holt plans to take official visits to Alabama and Auburn later this fall, and both home-state schools are desperate to keep him close. Houston, Ole Miss, and Arkansas are also in the hunt.
For now, though, Kentucky is in a prime position. If Pope and his staff can knock this visit out of the park, they could set the tone for a massive recruiting haul in 2026.
Big Blue Nation, buckle up—this weekend might just shape the future of Kentucky basketball.
