Duke men’s basketball coach Jon Scheyer met with the media Friday afternoon to discuss how his team is progressing this summer. While the season is still months away, Scheyer’s words revealed a man on a mission—and a team built to chase greatness.
“We have a great blend of returning guys who understand what it takes to get to the Final Four,” Scheyer said. “And we’ve brought in some young, hungry players ready to fight for something big.” In just three seasons as Duke’s head coach, Scheyer has already compiled an impressive résumé. After taking over from Mike Krzyzewski in 2022, Scheyer led Duke to an ACC Tournament title, an Elite Eight run, and most recently, a Final Four appearance.
His ability to win early and consistently has silenced critics and energized the Blue Devils fanbase. One of the key focuses this summer has been building chemistry between returning stars and incoming freshmen. Players like Caleb Foster and Jared McCain are expected to lead the locker room, while top recruits are adjusting to the program’s intensity and expectations.
“We’ve been pushing hard in practice,” said Scheyer. “But more importantly, we’re growing as a group. This team wants to win, and they’re willing to put in the work.” As Duke gears up for a challenging schedule this fall, Scheyer emphasized the importance of leadership and accountability.
The standards haven’t changed—Final Fours, championships, and legacy still define Duke Basketball. And with Jon Scheyer at the helm, that legacy looks poised to grow.
