Kentucky Wildcats fans have been eagerly waiting for a glimpse of Andrija Jelavić, the promising international forward expected to make waves this season. But if you’ve been wondering why he hasn’t shown up in summer practice photos or videos—Coach Mark Pope just gave a major update that sheds light on the situation.
> “The status right now is that we got transcripts, he just finished classes, which is awesome,” Pope explained. “We have transcripts, and that part of this process is complete and now it’s going through the rest of it.”
While there’s progress, Jelavić still hasn’t arrived on campus — and the delay isn’t due to lack of effort.
> “I’m hoping he can be on campus here — I don’t know if it’s optimistic, in the next… you know, I’d love for him to be here tomorrow,” Pope added.
The holdup? It’s a complicated mix of NCAA logistics and international requirements.
> “He actually can’t work out with the team right now,” Pope admitted. “There are a number of reasons… One of them is being an international student, first time in the States… our summer courses, to take the required number of in-class hours was really complicated.”
Despite the delays, Pope made it clear that Jelavić isn’t falling behind.
> “He’s doing great. He’s training back home and I expect him to come and have a great impact.”
What does this mean for BBN? Once the paperwork is finalized and Jelavić sets foot in Lexington, fans can expect a high-IQ, versatile forward ready to shake things up in the SEC.
Should Kentucky fans be concerned? Or will Jelavić arrive just in time to make noise this fall? Sound off below
