The high school basketball world is buzzing as the nation’s elite players hit the hardwood this summer, and the live evaluation period for high school hoops recruiting is officially back on! Coaches from top college programs are hitting the road to scout potential stars for their rosters, and it’s all eyes on some standout prospects who are turning heads.
Deron Rippey Jr. is making waves in the basketball scene, and his performance at the Adidas SSB Palmetto Championship is turning heads. The 6-foot-2 guard from Blair Academy (NJ) is known for his impressive skills, which include blowing past defenders, shooting three-pointers, and being a pest on defense.
Rippey Jr.’s stats are impressive, with 15.8 points per game, 51.2% field goal percentage, and 40.9% three-point shooting. He’s also shown his ability to dominate on both ends of the court, with two games featuring four or more steals.
College coaches are taking notice, with 25+ programs showing interest, including Kentucky, Alabama, Auburn, Duke, Louisville, Texas, Texas Tech, UConn, and Virginia. Rippey Jr. has already taken an official visit to Louisville and unofficial visits to Rutgers, St. John’s, Syracuse, UConn, and Villanova.
Kentucky’s Mark Pope is among the coaches who have been impressed by Rippey Jr.’s skills, and it’s likely that the Wildcats will continue to pursue him.
