Lamont Butler, a key player for the Kentucky Wildcats during the 2024-25 season, has signed a two-way deal with the Atlanta Hawks. This move marks a significant milestone in Butler’s basketball career, as he transitions from college hoops to the professional league.
Butler’s impressive defensive skills and clutch performances earned him recognition as the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2024. During his time with the Wildcats, he averaged 11.4 points and 4.3 assists per game while shooting 39.1% from behind the arc. His best performance in Kentucky blue came in late December against in-state rivals Louisville, where he scored 33 points and dished out six assists.
The two-way contract will see Butler split his time between the Hawks and their G League affiliate. He will also participate in the NBA Summer League, providing him with valuable experience and exposure. With his defensive prowess and clutch gene, Butler is poised to make a lasting impact in the league.
