It didn’t take long for Ansley Almonor to reunite with Big Blue Nation — and this time, it’s for a summer run with La Familia.
Just a few months after wrapping up his college career with the Kentucky Wildcats, Almonor is set to suit up for BBN once again — this time in The Basketball Tournament (TBT), as part of Kentucky’s official alumni squad, La Familia.
Even more historic? He becomes the first player from the Mark Pope era to officially join the alumni team, marking a significant milestone for both the program and Pope’s early tenure in Lexington.
Almonor transferred to Kentucky for the 2024–25 season and quickly became a fan favorite. Known for his versatility, length, and knockdown shooting, he played a valuable role during a transitional year under Pope’s leadership.
Now, he’ll get the chance to showcase that same skillset on a bigger stage — one where former Kentucky greats come together, not as rivals or strangers, but as family.
La Familia, which has already featured names like Eric Bledsoe, Brandon Knight, and Doron Lamb, is once again gearing up to make a deep run in TBT. With the addition of Almonor — a player who represents both the present and future of the Kentucky legacy — expectations are only getting higher.
BBN should be excited. Almonor’s inclusion not only speaks to his talent, but also signals a new era of alumni engagement under Coach Pope. One where tradition meets evolution — and where new faces can quickly become part of Kentucky’s storied basketball brotherhood.
Get ready, Big Blue Nation. Ansley Almonor is back in blue — and he’s bringing that Pope-built edge to La Familia.
