LeBron James has publicly backed Los Angeles Lakers coach JJ Redick following their first-round playoff exit to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Despite the team’s early departure from the playoffs, James praised Redick’s performance as a rookie coach, highlighting his ability to handle pressure and hold the team accountable.
Interestingly, Redick was spotted having dinner with Lakers GM Rob Pelinka and star player Luka Doncic at Craig’s in West Hollywood just two nights after their season ended. Doncic, who had a stellar season with the Lakers, also praised Redick, calling him a “hell of a coach” and appreciating the bond they developed during the season.
James commended Redick’s growth as a coach, saying, “I think JJ’s going to continue to grow. Thought he had a hell of a rookie campaign for a rookie coach… He handled it extremely well.” James also appreciated Redick’s ability to learn every single day and push the team to perform better.
The Lakers will look to regroup and rebuild for the next season, with Doncic set to sign a potential four-year, $229 million contract extension. With James’ future in the league still a topic of discussion, the team’s front office will need to make strategic decisions to build a roster that can compete for a championship around their star duo.
