The Duke Blue Devils wrapped up an impressive college basketball season under head coach Jon Scheyer, finishing with a 35–4 record. Their strong campaign included wins over top programs like Alabama, Arizona, and Baylor, an ACC Tournament championship, and a Final Four appearance, where they eventually fell to Houston.
Leading the charge was freshman phenom Cooper Flagg, who has now declared for the 2025 NBA Draft. Flagg wasn’t just a force on the court—he also stunned fans with his success off it. Duke recently announced that Flagg earned a spot on the 2024–25 All-ACC Academic Team, which honors student-athletes who maintain at least a 3.0 GPA both in the previous semester and cumulatively, and compete in at least 50% of their team’s games.
Flagg’s mother, Kelly Flagg, proudly shared the news on her Instagram story, celebrating her son’s achievement beyond basketball.
Flagg wasn’t alone—six of his teammates also made the All-ACC Academic Team: Tyrese Proctor, Khaman Maluach, Kon Knueppel, Sion James, Mason Gillis, and Caleb Foster. This year’s team featured a record-breaking 120 total selections, the highest in conference history.
On the court, Flagg dominated. He led Duke in all five major statistical categories, averaging 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. His outstanding freshman season earned him both the Naismith Player of the Year and Wooden Award, solidifying his status as college basketball’s top player.
With his sights now set on the NBA, Flagg leaves behind a legacy of excellence—both on and off the court.
