The college basketball transfer portal continues to shake up rosters across the country, and one of the top available players has just made a stunning decision. Blake Harper, the 2024–25 MEAC Player of the Year from Howard University, shocked fans by committing to the Creighton Bluejays—despite heavy interest from Ohio State and LSU.
Harper averaged an impressive 19.5 points per game in his freshman season at Howard, and his move to Creighton gives the Bluejays a serious offensive boost heading into the 2025–26 season. His decision adds to an already busy offseason for Creighton, which also secured commitments from Austin Swartz (Miami), Josh Dix and Owen Freeman (Iowa), and Nik Graves (Charlotte). The Bluejays, however, lost Pop Isaacs (Houston), Frederick King, and Mason Miller (Murray State) in the portal.
Duke star Khaman Maluach, a projected top-10 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, reacted to the news with a simple but powerful message: “Big time.” The 7-foot-2 center from South Sudan played 39 games for Duke this season, averaging 8.6 points and 6.6 rebounds. His declaration for the NBA Draft comes amid reported visa complications, adding another layer of intrigue to his journey.
With Harper on board, Creighton looks poised to make serious noise in the Big East—and this may just be the beginning of a wild offseason shake-up.
