The Duke Blue Devils are officially hitting the reset button. On Saturday night, standout freshman center Khaman Maluach declared for the 2025 NBA Draft, becoming the fifth and final starter from last season’s squad to depart.
The 7-foot-2 South Sudan native was a dominant force in the paint, averaging 8.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game while starting all 39 games. He shot a remarkable 71.2% from the field and 76.6% from the free-throw line, cementing himself as a projected lottery pick.
Maluach joins fellow one-and-dones Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel, along with junior guard Tyrese Proctor, in declaring for the draft. Graduate transfer Sion James rounds out the list, having exhausted his eligibility.
With the entire starting five gone, head coach Jon Scheyer now looks to rebuild around a strong returning bench and a top-tier incoming class that includes three five-star recruits. The program enters a new era—one filled with both uncertainty and potential.
