The 2025 NBA Draft just received a major update from the Duke Blue Devils. Duke finished the season with a 35-4 record, led by freshman Cooper Flagg and other stars like Kon Knueppel and Tyrese Proctor. Following the season, Knueppel and Proctor declared for the draft. All eyes were on Flagg, who has been viewed as the consensus No. 1 overall pick since he landed at Duke this past season.
On Monday, Flagg made it official. He declared for the 2025 NBA Draft. After the announcement was released on social media, Duke head coach Jon Scheyer sent a message to Flagg. The Blue Devils’ official social media account posted Scheyer’s tribute video for Flagg.
“Really proud of Cooper for the special season that he had this year,” Scheyer said. “I think that accolades speak for itself with what he did. Winning every National Player of the Year awards. His highlights, his statistics, the way he impacted the game on both ends of the floor. It was off the charts as good of a freshman season that guy has had here… Cooper did an incredible job in every facet of our program.”
“An absolute winner,” posted the Duke Blue Devils. “Best player in the country. The #1 pick. Cooper Flagg.” During his freshman season at Duke, he averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. He also showed out on the defensive end, posting 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. Flagg led Duke in all five statistical categories.
Flagg is now expected to be taken with the No. 1 overall pick. Three franchises hold the best odds to land the generational talent out of Duke: the Utah Jazz, Charlotte Hornets and Washington Wizards.
