Kansas State University’s two tallest basketball players, Baye Fall and Ugonna Onyenso, have decided to transfer away from the Wildcats after spending just one season in Manhattan.
Baye Fall’s Departure
Fall, a 6-foot-11 sophomore center, has entered the transfer portal. He averaged 2.5 points and 1.5 rebounds while playing in four games for K-State last season. Fall began his college career at Arkansas before joining the Wildcats.
Ugonna Onyenso’s Decision
Onyenso, a 7-foot center, also plans to transfer and play elsewhere next season. He averaged 2.8 points and 2.4 rebounds last season while playing in 24 games, mostly as a reserve. Onyenso started out at Kentucky before joining K-State, where he was expected to make a bigger impact.
Rebuilding the Roster
The departure of Fall and Onyenso marks the third and fourth basketball players to leave the Wildcats via the transfer portal in the past month. Reserve wing Macaleab Rich and starting guard Brendan Hausen are the others. Meanwhile, the Wildcats have welcomed incoming transfer Abdi Bashir from Monmouth.
What’s Next for K-State?
Head coach Jerome Tang is rebuilding the K-State roster, and the departures of Fall and Onyenso will likely lead to changes in the team’s lineup. With new additions like Bashir, the Wildcats are looking to shape their team for the upcoming season.
