SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum has expressed his doubts about the Kentucky Wildcats’ chances of winning the NCAA Tournament. Despite their impressive performance in the first two rounds, Finebaum believes that the team’s injuries and limitations will ultimately hold them back.
“Kentucky still has one of the great golden names in college basketball history,” Finebaum said on his show. “But, I don’t think this is going to be the year.”
The Wildcats have indeed faced numerous injuries this season, including the loss of Jaxson Robinson and Kerr Kriisa for the remainder of the year. Additionally, Lamont Butler has been struggling with a shoulder injury that has impacted his performance.
Despite these challenges, the Wildcats have shown resilience and determination, with Butler bouncing back from a poor performance in the first round to score 14 points against Illinois.
However, Finebaum’s doubts about the team’s chances are shared by many analysts, who point to the team’s limitations and the strength of other teams in the tournament.
The Wildcats will face the No. 2 seed Tennessee Volunteers in the Sweet 16, a team they have beaten twice in the regular season. However, Finebaum’s prediction suggests that their tournament run may come to an end soon.
