Mark Pope was thrilled with Kentucky’s dominant 95-64 win over LSU Tigers on Senior Night, but he didn’t hold back when discussing the officiating. Pope praised his team’s focus, especially on the defensive end, but also expressed frustration with the referees.
“I was really proud of our guys and how they responded tonight after a tough game on Saturday. Just their focus, I thought was pretty good. I thought it was elite, especially on the defensive end,” Pope said.
However, Pope’s tone changed when discussing the referees. “We got robbed…by the refs!” Pope exclaimed. “I mean, some of those calls were just ridiculous. But you know what? We overcame it. Our guys showed tremendous resilience and determination.”
Pope also commended individual performances, highlighting Otega Oweh’s incredible pass to Lamont Butler, which capped off a 15-0 run. “Ansley Almonor was terrific, and Jaxson Robinson’s injury is devastating, but we’ll move forward with the players we have.”
Kentucky fans will be eager to see how the team responds to Pope’s comments and the controversy surrounding the officiating.
