Aidan Hutchinson is back on two feet and running.
The Detroit Lions star defensive end shared a video on Instagram of him running at the Lions training facility in Allen Park on Monday.
Hutchinson was on pace to make his first All-Pro team with 7½ sacks in the first five games, but missed the rest of the season after he broke his tibia and fibula against the Dallas Cowboys.
In the video shared on the “House of Hutch” Instagram page run by the Hutchinson family, a shirtless Hutchinson completed a sprint from the end zone with his signature swinging-arm running style he normally uses to harass quarterbacks.
Hutchinson was one of five Lions defensive starters who went down with a season-ending injury, along with cornerback Carlton Davis III (jaw), defensive tackle Alim McNeill (knee), defensive end Marcus Davenport (triceps) and linebacker Derrick Barnes (knee).
Hutchinson kept hinting at a potential return in the 2024 season if the Lions made the Super Bowl, but the opportunity never came up. The Lions clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC but lost in the divisional round to the Washington Commanders, ending their hopes of reaching the franchise’s first Super Bowl and potentially having Hutchinson return.
“Onward,” Hutchinson said in New Orleans. “That’s the message. That’s all we can do. (We had) a great regular season, not-so-great postseason, so we’re going to bounce back and get healthy, most importantly, because with the talent, we’re going to be good.”
Hutchinson, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 draft, is eligible for a contract extension this offseason entering his fourth season. He could have up to two years remaining on his rookie contract if the Lions pick up his fifth-year team option and still sign an extension, similar to what offensive tackle Penei Sewell did last offseason.
