Miami quarterback Cam Ward, one of the Browns’ top candidates for the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, hasn’t been heard from much yet in the pre-draft process. But when he spoke on Monday night, he served notice to the NFL.
If teams pass on him, they’ll regret it.
“I’ll remember that,’’ Ward said. “I’ll remember the teams that passed on me. I’ll remember the teams that didn’t believe in me. I’ll remember the people that didn’t think I was good enough. And I’ll make sure they know my name. I’ll make sure they remember my name, too.’
Ward, who led Miami to a 10-3 record and a No. 15 ranking last season, is one of the top quarterback prospects in the draft. He’s been compared to Russell Wilson and Drew Brees because of his small stature (5-11 3/8) and big arm.
The Browns, who hold the No. 2 overall pick, are considering Ward as a potential replacement for their current quarterback. They’ve already met with him at the NFL Combine, and will likely bring him in for a private workout.
Ward is eager to prove himself as a top prospect, and is confident that he can succeed in the NFL despite his small size.
“I’m not worried about my height,’’ Ward said. “I’m not worried about what other people think about my height. I know what I can do. I know what I bring to the table. And I know that I can play with the best of them.’
Ward’s confidence and determination are traits that the Browns are likely looking for in a quarterback. And if they pass on him, he’ll be sure to remind them of it.
“I’m going to make sure that I prove them wrong,’’ Ward said. “I’m going to make sure that I show them what I can do. And I’m going to make sure that they remember my name.’’
