The Pittsburgh Steelers had a disappointing end to their season, finishing 10-7 after starting 10-3 and losing their final four games. One reason for this collapse may have been their brutal schedule, which included three games in just 11 days.
Keeanu Benton, a Steelers player, recently spoke about the insane experience of playing three games in such a short span. “That was crazy,” Benton said. “I ain’t never experienced nothing like it. It ain’t like basketball. You can play back-to-back-to-back and be all right. You just try to make adjustments to your week to take off a little bit so you can let it all out there on gameday”.
The Steelers’ schedule included games against the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, and Kansas City Chiefs, all of which were tough opponents. The team’s performance suffered as a result, with Benton noting that the physical demands of football made it difficult to recover from the condensed schedule.
While the Steelers’ schedule was certainly challenging, other teams, like the Ravens, faced similar schedules and still managed to win. The Steelers will likely look to bolster their roster in the offseason to better prepare for next season’s challenges.
