Kentucky Wildcats head coach Mark Pope provided updates on the injuries of two key players, Lamont Butler and Jaxson Robinson, after the team’s 75-64 win over Tennessee at Rupp Arena on Tuesday night.
Lamont Butler Injury Update
Butler, a fifth-year guard, reinjured his left shoulder during the game and did not return. Pope described the injury as “super scary” and said that Butler was playing with a “one-armed bandit” due to the injury.
Prior to the game, Butler had been dealing with a left shoulder injury that caused him to miss three straight games. He returned to action on Saturday against South Carolina, but his return was short-lived.
Pope said that the team will “patchwork it together” and try to get Butler healthy as soon as possible.
Jaxson Robinson Injury Update
Robinson, a fifth-year guard, suffered a right wrist injury during practice last Friday and was ruled out of the game against Tennessee.
Pope said that Robinson’s injury is not as severe as initially thought, but he is not sure when Robinson will return to action.
“We’re going to see how it goes,” Pope said. “I’m not sure we’re going to get him back anytime soon.”
Robinson is averaging 13.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game this season.
Kentucky’s win over Tennessee was a significant one, as it marked the team’s third straight win over the Volunteers. The Wildcats are now 17-6 on the season and 8-2 in the SEC.
