Kentucky Wildcats coach Mark Pope revealed that he woke up at 3 a.m. worried that neither Lamont Butler nor Jaxson Robinson would play due to their injuries.
Pope’s anxiety was alleviated when both players suited up and helped the Wildcats secure an 80-57 win over South Carolina. Butler played 23 minutes, scoring eight points, while Robinson played 20 minutes, contributing six points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Pope praised both players for their courage and resilience, saying, “They’re both really courageous. Neither of them feel quite right, but they’re getting on the floor, and they’re going to continue to get better.”
The win was a much-needed boost for the Wildcats, who had lost four of their previous five games. Pope acknowledged the importance of the victory, saying, “It means a lot… This game is really important. One, because it’s a win, but two, because it got those guys on the floor.”
