Former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark has expressed his opinion on the team’s quarterback situation, advocating for the re-signing of Justin Fields. Clark believes that Fields has shown potential and could provide the team with a chance to develop a young quarterback.
“I think they should re-sign Justin Fields and here’s why — you can figure out, can he be the guy for the future?” Clark said. “And if he bombs, you could go high in the draft and get somebody good. Somebody that could play.”
Fields had a 4-2 record as the Steelers’ starter and showed improvement in reducing turnovers. Clark’s comments suggest that Fields could be a viable option for the team, especially considering the limited quarterback options available in the draft and free agency.
However, it remains to be seen whether Fields will return to the Steelers or explore other options in free agency. Several teams, including the New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, and New York Giants, may be interested in signing Fields if the Steelers do not re-sign him.
