The Cleveland Browns desperately need a quarterback, but with the No. 2 pick in the draft, they may not feel pressured to select one. According to NFL scout Matt Miller, the Browns could wait until 2026 to draft a quarterback from a richer class.
Miller believes that this year’s quarterback prospects, including Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, are not clear-cut franchise players. Instead, he suggests that the Browns could draft the best player available, which could be Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter.
This approach would allow the Browns to address other needs on their roster while potentially signing a veteran quarterback like Kirk Cousins in free agency. However, with the Deshaun Watson contract on the books, the Browns may feel pressure to draft a quarterback sooner rather than later.
Miller’s comments were made on ESPN Cleveland’s “The Really Big Show,” where he discussed the Browns’ options with host Tony Rizzo. While the Browns’ quarterback situation remains uncertain, one thing is clear: they need to make a move to improve their chances of success in the 2025 season.
