NBA legend Dwight Howard thinks Pistons’ power forward Isaiah Stewart is better suited for the gridiron than the hardwood. After Stewart’s latest ejection, Howard jokingly suggested that he should join the Detroit Lions.
Howard’s comments came after Stewart was ejected for a flagrant foul on Pacers center Thomas Bryant. The NBA legend recalled Stewart’s infamous meltdown against LeBron James in 2021, saying that if Stewart had gotten to James, “the NBA would’ve been over”
Howard thinks Stewart’s physicality and aggressive play would make him a great fit for the NFL. “Isaiah Stewart need to go play for the Lions… put him a helmet on, he don’t even need shoulder pads… and tell him to get the quarterback,” Howard said.
While Stewart’s playing style may be reminiscent of an NFL player, he’s still a valuable asset to the Pistons. The 23-year-old is averaging 5.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, and his physicality has been a key factor in the team’s resurgence on defense.
