The Pittsburgh Steelers are in need of a boost to their running game, and one NFL insider believes they should pursue a high-priced running back.
According to a report by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Denver Broncos are expected to release running back Javonte Williams, who is projected to have a salary cap hit of around $20 million.
Williams, a 2021 second-round pick, has shown flashes of brilliance in his young career, but injuries have limited his playing time. Despite this, he remains one of the most talented running backs in the league.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz believes the Steelers should make a move for Williams, citing his elite talent and the Steelers’ need for a dominant running back.
“The Steelers need a game-changer at running back, and Javonte Williams is exactly that,” Schultz tweeted. “He’s a top-5 talent at the position, and his projected $20 million salary is a steal considering his production.”
While the Steelers do have a need at running back, it remains to be seen whether they would be willing to take on Williams’ projected salary. However, if they do decide to pursue him, it could be a move that pays off in a big way.
What do you think, Steelers fans? Should the team pursue Javonte Williams? Let us know in the comments!
