The Pittsburgh Steelers may turn to a familiar face to help address their quarterback situation. According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers could consider bringing back Mason Rudolph as a veteran backup quarterback.
Rudolph, who spent six seasons with the Steelers before joining the Tennessee Titans last season, started five games and played in eight for the Titans. He threw for 1,530 yards, nine touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
Dulac suggests that the Steelers’ likely plan is to bring back Justin Fields as the starter and pair him with a veteran backup like Rudolph. Rudolph’s familiarity with the Steelers’ system and his past success with the team make him an attractive option.
The Steelers are expected to lose several players to free agency, including some key contributors. Bringing back Rudolph could provide some stability and depth at the quarterback position.
