In a shocking revelation, Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has exposed the team’s biggest weakness, and it’s not what fans expected.
According to Mark Kaboly, a Steelers insider, the team’s biggest weakness is their lack of a reliable slot cornerback. During the first week of OTAs, Dane Jackson struggled in this position, and Kaboly expressed concerns that the team doesn’t have a suitable starter on the roster.
“It’s a concern, and it’s something we need to address,” Tomlin said. “We’re working on it, but it’s not something we can fix overnight.”
Other weaknesses mentioned include the need for a true No. 2 wide receiver after George Pickens and potential defensive line depth issues. However, the slot cornerback position seems to be the most pressing concern.
Former Steelers executive Doug Whaley questioned Mike Tomlin’s hiring practices, particularly his ability to develop a coaching tree. Whaley suggested that Tomlin’s struggles in the postseason might be linked to his coaching hires, such as Randy Fichtner and Matt Canada.
Despite these concerns, the Steelers are optimistic about their chances with Russell Wilson at the helm and Arthur Smith as their new offensive coordinator.
“We’re excited about the talent we have on this team,” Tomlin said. “We just need to put it all together and play consistent football.”
Steelers fans will be keeping a close eye on the team’s progress as they address their weaknesses and work towards a successful season.
