The Pittsburgh Steelers have made their fair share of mistakes over the years, but one decision in particular is still haunting the team, according to insiders.
Sources close to the team have revealed that the Steelers’ biggest mistake was letting wide receiver Antonio Brown get away.
“Letting AB go was a huge mistake,” said one Steelers insider. “He was a game-changer on the field, and his absence has been felt ever since he left.”
Brown, who played for the Steelers from 2010 to 2018, was a key member of the team’s offense, earning seven Pro Bowl selections and setting numerous franchise records.
However, his time in Pittsburgh was marked by controversy, including a series of social media outbursts and a reported feud with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Despite the drama, Brown’s production on the field was undeniable, and the Steelers’ decision to trade him to the Oakland Raiders in 2019 has been widely criticized.
“We underestimated the impact of losing AB,” said another Steelers source. “He was a dynamic player who made big plays, and we haven’t been able to replace that.”
The Steelers have struggled to find consistency at wide receiver since Brown’s departure, and the team’s offense has suffered as a result.
“AB was a special player, and we miss him,” said Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. “But we can’t dwell on the past. We have to move forward and find ways to win with the players we have.”
The Steelers’ organization has yet to comment on the report, but sources indicate that the team is still feeling the effects of Brown’s departure.
“It’s a mistake that’s still haunting us,” said one Steelers executive. “But we’re working hard to move forward and build a winning team.”
